The therapeutic procedure of applying the Sneha Dravya at the vertex by using a cotton pad is known as Shiropichu. As this process does not involve massage, it can be confidently performed in painful condition or ulceration of the scalp also.
Procedure
Placing of Cotton Pad: Approximately three inches square, quarter inch thick pad of cotton wool is wrapped in gauze is placed on the vertex exactly on the centre of head.
Pouring of Oil: Oil is heated to lukewarm in water bath. About 10-15 ml of medicated oil is poured on the pad.
Bandaging: The triangular cloth is draped on the head of the patient. This bandage will allow the cotton pad too firmly in touch with the scalp. Shiropicha is kept for 30 to 60 minutes.
